Many people have dental anxiety, often because of past traumatic dental experiences. If that is you and you've put off having your dental work done, we have a solution for you. At Michelle Lancour DDS we offer nitrous oxide sedation.
What Is Nitrous Oxide?
An image of Chicago nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a sedative gas that is mixed with oxygen. It is perfectly safe and is often used in both medical and dental procedures. It is commonly called laughing gas or happy gas. It's an excellent relaxant for dental care, and it will strengthen the novocain.
You breathe it through your nose during the appointment, and then at the end of the appointment, Dr. Lancour gives you oxygen to breathe that will completely clear your head and remove any lingering effects from the gas. You will even be able to drive yourself home, or go back to work after the procedure.
Advantages Of Nitrous Oxide
-
You'll be relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire procedure.
-
There are no lingering after-effects as with oral sedatives.
-
You can get more dental work done in an appointment than you can without the sedation.
